Broadcast TV outperformed streaming during 2024 Summer Olympic Games

This is very interesting to see that more people in the US have watched 2024 Summer Olympic Games on over-the-air TV with an antenna than using live streaming services such as Peacock TV. It shows that more and more people are cancelling cable and satellite services and finding alternative ways of watching TV for news and sporting events, while saving money. The cord-cutting continues.

Last month, Richard Schneider received a note that was more exciting than it was problematic: One key Amazon distribution center was running dangerously low on inventory of his indoor and outdoor antennas. Would he be able to send more — and quickly?

“Our Amazon sales were so high, we had to hotshot a pallet of antennas to the distribution center,” Schneider, the CEO of Antennas Direct, told The Desk in an interview last week.

TV antenna pointing map websites and apps to consider

To help get your TV antenna pointed at the broadcasting towers, and antenna recommendations, here are a few antenna pointing websites and/or apps to consider:

AntennaWeb - The best antenna pointing site to use, it provides the location of the broadcasting towers, station names, channel number, recommended antenna to use whether indoor or outdoor model, etc.  The app for this can be found on Google Play or iPhone App Store. It also shows information on whether a TV station is broadcasting on NEXTGEN TV (ATSC 3.0).

Channel Master - Provides you with about the same info as AntennaWeb but with antenna recommendations for Channel Master TV antennas.

TVFool.com - Can be used for reference on what TV channel a broadcasting station is actually broadcasting on (RF channel vs. the channel they identify themselves as). Not recommended because some of the TV channel information you may find is out of date or inaccurate.

Good luck in getting the most out of your TV antenna reception, remember that higher placement of the TV antenna is better, pointing to where most of the TV broadcasting towers are located.
